We Have A Captain!

Numbers 14:1-10 — And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.” Israel’s response to the twelve spies who went into Canaan was disgraceful. The congregation believed the evil report brought by the ten and fell into unbelief. They turned against their leaders and against the LORD. They even went so far as to consider appointing another leader who would take them back to Egypt.

In this sermon, we think about the reasons for Israel’s rebellious unbelief and why their behaviour was so displeasing to the LORD. As we do, we discover an important lesson for Christian lives today. We all have moments like Israel did in this story. Moments when our faith is tested on account of intense disappointment or discouragement. When these moments come, we don’t do what Israel did, rather we remember that we have a captain and He is good.
