Acts 9:26-27 — “They were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles…” When Saul returned to Jerusalem as a Christian and wanted to join the church, the disciples were understandably afraid and suspicious. This was the man who only three years earlier had forced them to flee their homes and had even put some of their number to death. But there was one man who reached out to Saul, believed his story and spoke up for him to the apostles.
This man was Barnabas and in this study we see him beautifully illustrate some things Saul (Paul) would write years later about love. His is example of genuine Christian love is one we ought to follow, for there are many in our churches and in our world who need a Barnabas.
