Hebrews 3:1-2 — “Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to him that appointed him…” In this text Jesus is referred to for the first and only time as an “apostle.” We are familiar with the Twelve Apostles, so what does this title mean when applied to Christ? And what does the author intend to communicate when he tells us that “Jesus was faithful to the one who appointed him?”
As we think though these questions we discover why the author of Hebrews exhorts us to “consider” Jesus. The key to our faithfulness is keeping our eyes on Him.
