I Kings 19:4-8 — We all experience seasons of sadness and discouragement because of disappointment and loss. For some, they experience periods of depression that may be unrelated to any outward circumstances. What do we do when we go through these times? How do we help others who suffering in this way?
The great prophet Elijah experienced a time of deep discouragement and even depression. He was bitterly disappointed that his ministry in Israel appeared to have failed. He ended up alone in the wilderness, under a juniper tree wanting to die. The LORD came to Elijah and ministered to him in a very tender and practical way. There is much for us to learn from His example — much to help us through our own struggles and a pattern for helping others.
