Exodus 5:22-6:5 — “…Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?”
Things had not turned out as Moses had expected. Pharaoh refused his request and made life much more difficult for the Children of Israel. Then Moses was criticised harshly by the Israelite foremen who oversaw the slaves.
Moses was bitterly disappointed and spoke to the LORD in anger. In His gracious reply, the LORD informed Moses that the stage was now finally set for His mighty work of deliverance. He would keep His promises and display His power.
As we consider this text, we learn how to respond when things don’t work out for us. We are reminded that God is always at work, bringing to pass His good purposes in our lives and in our world.
