Luke 9:27-36 — “As he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering…and they saw his glory…” The Transfiguration is an event in Jesus’ life that many of us are familiar with, but do we know what it was all about? Why did Jesus take three of His disciples up a mountain and show them His glory? Why did Moses and Elijah turn up and talk with Jesus about His death?
In this, the first of two sermons on the Transfiguration, we step back and consider the big picture and what it has to teach us about Jesus and about being His disciple. The Transfiguration not only reveals His majestic glory, but also His marvellous grace.
