Judges 6:11-24, 36-40 — When it comes to asking God for a sign, Gideon is the quintessential example in Scripture. Many of us grew up hearing the story of “Gideon’s fleece” in Sunday School and unfortunately there are those today who misapply his example.
Gideon actually requested a sign from the Lord twice and in this sermon we come to a proper understanding of why he did so. We see that Gideon gets dragged into discussions about the will of God where he doesn’t belong!
What compelled Gideon to ask for these signs are some of the same things we struggle with. We ask the same questions he did, and the good news is that God has answered them for us. We have all the signs we need in the cross and empty tomb.
