Luke 8:22-25 — “As they sailed [Jesus] fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake…And they came to him, and awoke him…” The disciples were frantic, fearing for their lives as the storm raged around them, but Jesus was sound asleep. Why? How was this possible? Jesus was asleep in the midst of the storm because (1) He was tired, and (2) He wasn’t worried.
Here Jesus serves as our great example. When we’re tired and we have the opportunity, we need to sleep! Too often we’re poor stewards of our body because we choose social media or entertainment over sleep. We also need to remember that just as Jesus wasn’t worried about the storm or about the welfare of His disciples, He isn’t worried about problems because He’s got them covered.
