Leviticus 23:15-21, Acts 2:1-11 — For over fifty years there has been much controversy in evangelical circles concerning the gift of tongues. What is often forgotten in this controversy is what this gift actually signified and how wonderful it was. Even among those who believe that the gift of tongues is no longer given by the Spirit, it still ought to be a source of great joy. Rather than wading into the debate, in this sermon we consider the gift itself, what it meant and why we should be thankful for it.
