Luke 16:19-31 — An increasing number of people who identify as Christians deny the existence of hell. From a human point of view this is understandable because hell, as it is described in Scripture, is horrific. However, if we affirm the inspiration and authority of Scripture this denial is indefensible.
Jesus spoke often and He spoke plainly about the existence of hell. In this sermon we consider the story Jesus told of the Rich Man and Lazarus. The Rich Man died and went to hell and as we reflect upon his plight we learn much about this fearful place.
This is an uncomfortable topic but it’s necessary for us to meditate upon. It fuels our gratitude and love for Jesus and it motivates us to share the Good News.
