Luke 10:21-24 — “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth…” There are very few examples in the Gospels where Jesus is seen rejoicing. In this text we have one of them and we see that He expressed His joy outwardly and overtly in praise and thanksgiving to His Father. This was not a whispered prayer!
As we consider this passage, we notice the role of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ joy and we take some time to ponder the reasons for it. We also see that while Jesus rejoiced at this point in His ministry – a highpoint, He actually had joy in his heart all the way to the end.
