Matthew 25:1-13 — In our study through Jesus’ Olivet Discourse we come to the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins. The story has to do with a wedding procession through the streets to the bride’s house where the wedding banquet was held. Ten virgins (the bridesmaids) were waiting for the bridegroom to come so they might go out to meet him and join the procession, but the bridegroom was delayed and they fell asleep. What happened next revealed which of those bridesmaids where wise and which were foolish. There were consequences for those who were ready for the bridegroom’s coming and those who were not.
This famous Parable has some important things to teach us about the Second Coming of our Lord. It reminds us that we need to be ready and part of being ready means being patient. We hope this study is a blessing to you.
