I Samuel 8 — “Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king…” Israel wanted a king and they wanted Samuel to make it happen. The people wanted a king, in part, because of a poor decision that Samuel had made in appointing his sons as judges. Israel also wanted a king in order to be like the pagan nations that surrounded them.
As Pastor Brendan takes us through this narrative, he brings to our attention five serious flaws in Israel’s decision making process. These serve as vital lessons for us in the decisions that we have to make. We want to get this right for our own spiritual well-being and for those we love.
