II Chronicles 19 — King Jehoshaphat had acted very foolishly in entering into an alliance with King Ahab. Ahab was thoroughly wicked man who had persecuted the prophets of the LORD. The two kings went to war against Syria and if not for Divine intervention, Jehoshaphat would’ve ended up dead on the battlefield like Ahab did. The LORD was very merciful and Jehoshaphat made it safely home to Jerusalem.
In this sermon, we see what Jehoshaphat did next — how he responded to the great grace and mercy he had received. What we have in this part of his story is actually a superb illustration of how God’s people ought to respond to God’s grace. This is a vitally important lesson for all who profess to know Christ as Saviour.
