Jeremiah 3 — “Thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.” In this chapter the prophet delivers a searing indictment against Judah for breaking her covenant with the LORD. She was guilty of adultery on a massive scale. She had openly rebelled and feigned repentance, yet the LORD desired her return.
As Pastor Peter takes us through the text, we are reminded that God, by nature, is “merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness” (Ex. 34:6). We are also reminded that He invites His wayward and rebellious children to return. If they will repent, He will forgive their sins and fill their hearts with joy once more.
