I Kings 12:16-24, 14:21-31 — In this sermon, we begin to consider the rest of King Rehoboam’s reign. It began very badly with his foolish speech to people who were already disaffected and agitated. Rehoboam basically drove the ten northern tribes into rebellion and ensured the division of the kingdom. Unfortunately his story doesn’t get any better. Under his leadership, Judah fell into terrible sin.
As we study his life, we find some very important lessons about our influence on the generations coming after us and about our responsibility to seek the Lord.
