Revelation 12:1-5 — As we continue to study this remarkable passage of Scripture, we turn our attention to the identity of the child. Who is this baby who is to “rule all nations with a rod of iron?” And what are we to make of the drama that unfolds? The dragon threatens to devour the child and then when he is born, he is immediately taken up to God.
In this text, the Nativity of Jesus is placed in the larger narrative of redemption. When we consider Christmas from this perspective, we see that it communicates some very powerful messages about who is in control of this world and where human history is heading.
