I Samuel 18:1-4 — “The soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” Sadly, friendship is increasingly misunderstood and undervalued in our world today. Many don’t know how to be a friend let alone how to be a good friend. A person might have hundreds of “friends” online but not be particularly close to any of them. The increasing sexualisation of our culture also hasn’t helped.
In this sermon, we survey what is perhaps the greatest friendship in the Bible, that of David and Jonathan. As we do, we discover some vital truths that, when applied, will strengthen our friendships.
