Judges 7 — On the eve of battle with the Midianites, Gideon was afraid and the LORD knew it. The LORD understood that Gideon was not a fearless warrior like Samson or David and he didn’t expect him to be. In this sermon, we consider the ways by which the LORD tenderly addressed Gideon’s fear and enabled him to fulfil his calling.
As we see God deal with Gideon, we recognise that these are the very same ways that He ministers to us. We don’t have to live burdened by anxiety or hindered by fear. What God has provided is more than sufficient. Our Father has “not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (II Timothy 1:7)
