II Chronicles 20:31-37 — “And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly: And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish…” Jehoshaphat was a good king who loved the LORD and led his people well, although he did make some fairly serious mistakes. The account of his life ends with one of these mistakes – a business venture with King Ahaziah, the son of Ahab and Jezebel. In this sermon we think about the factors that influenced Jehoshaphat to enter into this partnership, and in doing so we discover some very important lessons for our Christian lives.
