Pray

Luke 11:5-10 — Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you…” Jesus prefaced these famous words with an illustration of a man who shamelessly persisted in asking his friend for bread. He knocked on his friend’s door at midnight and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. Eventually his friend gave him what he wanted, but only because he wouldn’t stop asking!

We can all identify with this illustration because we’ve all been pestered into giving someone something, but how does this relate to Jesus’ exhortation to “ask, seek and knock.” Do we need to bang on the door of our Heavenly Father and until he relents and gives us what we’re asking for? What was Jesus teaching us about prayer?
