Psalm 90:1-12 — “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” In this Psalm, Moses reminds us that life is both brief and tenuous. We’re given 70 years, maybe 80, and then it’s over. When we consider this in light of eternity, it’s a not a very long time at all! Moses also tells why our lives are this way and what we need to do.
This is a much needed message as our culture is consumed by temporary things and most don’t ever seriously think about the brevity of their lives and about eternity. We could all do with the wake-up call the Lord gives us in this ancient text.
