Jeremiah 35 — In this chapter the prophet was instructed to do a very strange thing. He was to bring a group of men into the Temple and offer them wine. These men were Rechabites and when they were served the wine they refused to drink it. This was out of respect for their ancestor Jonadab who had commanded his descendants to abstain from wine for ever.
So who were the Rechabites and why did their father Jonadab give them this command? Why did the LORD ask Jeremiah to serve these men wine when He knew they wouldn’t drink it? And what does any of this have to teach us about being faithful fathers? Listen and find out!
