The Silent Screaming Of A Guilty Conscience

Luke 9:7-9 — Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed…” As reports about Jesus filtered into Herod’s court, speculation swirled as to the identity of this miracle-working teacher. There were those who believed it was John the Baptist risen from the dead and eventually this is what Herod came to believe.

Why? Why was John the Baptist on Herod’s mind? It was because he was responsible for John’s murder. Herod was gripped by a guilty conscience.

This is something we’ve all experienced and something many Christians continue to struggle with. So what are the purposes of God in a guilty conscience? What is God calling us to do? And how do we find relief and rest?
