O Grave, I Will Be Thy Destruction

Hosea 13:14 — A message of hope in the midst of a searing denunciation. That’s what we discover in Hosea chapter 13. The end was coming for the Northern Kingdom of Israel because of their rampant idolatry. The prophet describes the judgment of God in graphic detail and yet there is a word of promise — “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction.” This promise looked forward to the event we remember on Easter Sunday. This is what Jesus accomplished by His resurrection.

In this sermon we consider how Jesus conquered death and what it means for those who trust in Him. The words that Hosea penned all those years ago are the blessed hope of every Christian!
