Jonah & The Queen

Luke 11:29-32 — “This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet…” In this passage Jesus had some very stern words for those who’d come out to see Him. He knew why they had come and He knew the condition of their hearts. They wanted to see a sign, not because they were undecided about who He was, but because they were steeped in unbelief. Jesus would not give them the sign they were asking for, rather He promised to give them the greatest sign of all — His own resurrection.

As we study this passage we discover two very important warnings for our Christian lives. A warning about seeking signs, and a warning about being indifferent to the light we’ve been given. May God give us ears to hear, and hearts to receive, the message He has for us.
