A Minstrel In The Wilderness

II Kings 3:4-15 — The kings of Israel, Judah and Edom were in big trouble. They had marched their armies for seven days into the wilderness and had run out of water. They were now ripe for defeat by the forces of Moab. In desperation, a prophet was called for and by God’s good providence Elisha was there. When asked for a word from the LORD, Elisha requested that someone come and play music for him. It was a fascinating request and it tells us something about the power of music.

The subject of music and its influence on our Christian lives is important. It’s this that we reflect upon as we consider this intriguing piece of Old Testament history.
